Pregnancy Massage
Pregnancy is beautiful time to utilise ZenThai Body Work to support the growth and transformation of mumma and baby. During a session we move slowly with a watery pulse, allowing the nervous system to drop into a deep trance. The session is primarily done in side position with cushions as props to allow for comfort and safety of the baby. These body work sessions are best used from the second trimester onwards to help improve energy levels, ease the discomfort of pelvic pain, lower back pain, and neck and shoulder tension. These sessions can also be utilised at full time to encourage the descent of the baby and prepare the body for release.
Herbal Poultice Therapy
Herbal Poultices are a traditional Thai style massage that involves steaming herbs wrapped in cloth. These are then batted on the body to bring heat and pain relief to targeted areas. This is especially great in the Winter time when the body can be cold and stiff. The herbs I will prepare fresh in the the days before with a mix of seasonal anti-inflammatory plants. For this reason pre-booking a Herbal Body Work session is mandatory.
Cupping Therapy
Cupping helps to remove toxins from the body and bring new blood flow by creating a vacuum like pressure on the body that brings new blood flow into the targeted area. This is especially great on the shoulders and back, where there can be deep stagnation in old injuries and patterns here. It can also be used to warm the belly and bring energy into the lower back. It is a Traditional Chinese Medicine technique that has now become more popular in modern musculoskeletal therapies. Cupping will leave round bruises on the body that can take a week to heal fully, so don't have a cupping session if that is an issue. This is available in all ZenThai Shiatsu sessions, however please let me know if you would like it so I can prepare.
How this body work therapy works:
When blood stagnates in the body it can present itself in all kinds of ways. Slow digestion, mental fatigue, stiff joints, swelling, inflammation and pain to name a few. By bringing movement into the body and especially the nerves surrounding the spinal chord, the body can begin to flush and heal itself. This massage style combines batting, deep tissue release, PNFs, stretching, facial unwinding, and belly work organ massage. It is also safe for pregnancy and can support the pelvic alignment and lower back pain that are common during pregnancy. ZenThai Shiatsu addresses the body holistically freeing up deep emotional and physical trauma from within the tissues and organs. It can address postural imbalances, train the fascia to unwind, release connective tissue patterning, mobilise stiff joints, and release muscular tension. Following the meridian system and the 5 Elements of Traditional Chinese Medicine allows this body work therapy to work not just on the physical body and pain, but addressing deeper internal shifts as well.
